La Mer is Dubai's most complete beach lifestyle destination — a 2.5km stretch of Arabian Gulf coastline reimagined as a living neighbourhood. Built by Meraas, it takes the ingredients of a great beach — good sand, calm water, warm sun — and surrounds them with over 100 restaurants, a cinema, a waterpark, a trampoline park, and an outdoor art programme that gives La Mer its distinctive, colourful character.
The beach itself is free to access and beautifully maintained. Sunloungers and umbrellas can be rented for modest fees. The water here is reliably calm and clean, perfect for families with children and swimmers of all abilities. The beach stretches long enough that you can always find a quieter spot even on busy weekends.
The Laguna Waterpark anchors the north end of La Mer and is one of Dubai's better waterparks for families — not as enormous as Atlantis Aquaventure, but with excellent slides, a wave pool, and a lazy river in a well-designed, manageable setting. The infinity pool section makes it attractive even for adults without children.
La Mer's food scene ranges from casual international favourites (Black Tap, Cali Poke, Jones the Grocer) to proper sit-down restaurants and beachfront cafés. The outdoor murals and art installations by regional and international artists are woven throughout the development, making La Mer the most Instagram-worthy stretch of beach in Jumeirah.
