Dubai does not have true overwater bungalows in the Maldivian sense — huts built on stilts above an open lagoon. What it does have is a range of pool-edge, water-level, and partially-elevated-over-pool cabana experiences that achieve the visual aesthetic and the psychological feeling of being surrounded by or suspended above water. A floating breakfast — a beautifully arranged tray of food served floating in the pool, with the guest in the water — has become one of Dubai's signature Instagram moments. Several beach clubs and hotel pools offer this as an add-on to day passes or room stays. The food typically includes fruits, croissants, spreads, fresh juice, and coffee arranged photogenically on a waterproof floating tray.
