Where Tulum Meets the French Riviera
Casa Amor arrived on the Jumeirah Beach scene in October 2024, opening its doors alongside the debut of the adjacent J1 Beach strip and instantly setting itself apart with an aesthetic that no other Dubai beach club had really attempted. Where the wider J1 Beach district leans Italian-chic or Mediterranean-slick, Casa Amor goes full bohemian — rattan furniture, draped linens, handcrafted wall art, candles instead of spotlights, rugs instead of hard tile. The inspiration is a specific one: Tulum's free-spirited Mexican Caribbean energy, filtered through the elegant casualness of the Saint-Tropez beach clubs of the early 2000s. It's a hybrid that shouldn't quite work in Dubai's climate but somehow does.
Physically, Casa Amor occupies a wide stretch of white-sand beach on Jumeirah Beach, right alongside the J1 Beach luxury strip and flowing into the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira property. The signature design elements — cabanas draped with flowing natural fabrics, a beach-to-restaurant rhythm that allows bare feet everywhere, a main pavilion built around a central bar made of reclaimed driftwood — were conceived by a European design team who have clearly done their homework on Tulum. Walking in, you pass under a canopy of cotton sails, emerge onto the sand, and the beach itself unfolds: turquoise sunbeds, striped parasols, clay-pot candles that light up at dusk.
The kitchen is pitched at Southern French cuisine with subtle Latin American influences. That means you'll find ceviches, sea bass with chimichurri, and a raw bar alongside the expected Provençal classics — grilled line-caught fish with fennel and olive, steak frites with Béarnaise, tarte au citron. The live grill is the centrepiece, searing premium cuts of beef and whole fish to order, paired with an artisanal bread service that uses a sourdough baked in-house. Main courses sit in the AED 80–220 range and the typical per-head spend without alcohol hovers around AED 200 — reasonable for a venue with this level of design and service.
What genuinely distinguishes Casa Amor from the crowd, though, is what the team calls their "music rituals." Every evening around 5pm, a resident DJ starts spinning from a booth hidden in the main pavilion, joined by a live saxophonist or bongo player. The sound builds slowly from downtempo through deep house and Mediterranean melodic, timed exactly to track the sunset. By 7pm, with candles lit on every table and the sky turning pink behind the Palm, the vibe hits a very specific sweet spot that regulars describe as "Tulum at golden hour." This is the main reason couples book Casa Amor for date nights and anniversaries — nowhere else in Dubai gets the romance-on-the-beach formula quite this right.
Among the J1 Beach venues, Casa Amor is the romantic specialist. If you want the party, go BABA. If you want family, go Gigi. If you want the sun-bleached, candlelit, genuinely beautiful couples' beach day that ends slow and late, this is the one to book. Compare all Dubai beach clubs →
