Dubai has a reputation as a car city, but its beach club scene is more accessible by public transport than most residents realise. The JBR/Dubai Marina cluster — home to some of the city's most popular beach venues — is served by both the Metro Red Line and the Dubai Tram, making a car-free beach day entirely practical for residents across the city. This guide, part of our resident hacks series, gives you exact walking distances, routes, and tips for every major Dubai beach club area.
Why Go Car-Free to Beach Clubs?
Beyond the obvious benefit of being able to drink without driving, there are compelling practical reasons to use public transport for beach club visits. Parking at premium venues on Saturdays is increasingly difficult, with queues adding 20–30 minutes to arrival time. Parking fees at hotel-adjacent venues can add AED 40–80 to your day cost. And arriving by metro or tram puts you directly on The Walk promenade — one of Dubai's best pedestrian environments — rather than in an underground car park.
The JBR/Dubai Marina Cluster — Best Metro Access in Dubai
The area covering JBR and Dubai Marina is by far the most metro-accessible beach cluster in Dubai. The Dubai Marina Mall Tram stop, JBR 1 Tram stop, and JBR 2 Tram stop are all connected to the Red Line Metro via the DMCC and Dubai Marina stations, creating a seamless multi-modal connection from anywhere on the Red Line to the beach.
🟢 JBR Beach & Zero Gravity — Easy Metro Access
Very Accessible- Take Red Line Metro to DMCC Station or Dubai Marina Station
- Connect to Dubai Tram at the interchange (same station building)
- Tram to Dubai Marina Mall stop → 12–15 min walk to Zero Gravity / JBR end of beach
- Or: Tram to JBR 1 or JBR 2 stops → 5 min walk to Barasti, Bla Bla, The Beach
Venues Accessible via This Route
Zero Gravity Dubai
15 min walk from Dubai Marina Mall Tram stop. Follow beach path north along JBR.
Barasti Beach
5 min walk from JBR 1 Tram stop along The Walk promenade.
Bla Bla Dubai
8 min walk from JBR 2 Tram stop. JBR Open Beach also accessible here.
JBR Open Beach (Free)
Directly at JBR 1 and JBR 2 Tram stops. No entry fee — Dubai's most metro-accessible free beach.
In summer (June–September), the 12–15 minute walk from Dubai Marina Mall to Zero Gravity involves full sun exposure on an open beach path. Take the Tram to Dubai Marina Mall stop, then get a Careem or Uber for the final 1.5km rather than walking. The AED 10–12 ride saves genuine physical discomfort in 40°C+ heat.

All JBR venues accessible by metro — book your day pass and leave the car at home.
JBR & Marina Beach ClubsPalm Jumeirah Venues — Monorail Route
The Palm Jumeirah houses some of Dubai's most prestigious beach clubs — Nikki Beach, White Beach, Cloud 22, and FIVE Palm Jumeirah. These are accessible without a car via the Palm Monorail, though the journey involves more connections than the JBR route.
🟡 Palm Jumeirah Venues — Moderate Connections Required
Moderate Access- Red Line Metro to Damac Properties or DMCC Station
- Bus or short taxi (AED 15–20) to Palm Gateway Station
- Palm Monorail from Gateway to Atlantis Station (approximately 10–12 minutes, AED 25 return)
- Short taxi (AED 15–25) from Atlantis to Nikki Beach / FIVE Palm / White Beach
For Palm venues, the time and cost trade-off versus driving is less compelling than for JBR — unless you plan to drink, in which case a taxi return (AED 60–80 from Palm to Downtown) versus the Monorail/bus combination is worth considering. The Monorail route is most practical for visitors staying in the Marina or JBR area who can reach Palm Gateway without crossing the whole city.
Kite Beach — Bus and Taxi Access
Kite Beach is one of Dubai's most beloved free public beaches, but it's also one of the least conveniently served by metro. The nearest Red Line stations are Business Bay and Noor Bank — both roughly 20 minutes by taxi. For residents in Downtown Dubai, a direct taxi to Kite Beach costs approximately AED 25–35 and takes 15–20 minutes — often more practical than a metro+bus combination.
🟡 Kite Beach — Bus or Taxi from Red Line
Requires Bus or Taxi- Red Line to Business Bay or Noor Bank Station
- RTA Bus Route 8 toward Jumeirah (check current schedule — not peak frequency)
- Alight at nearest stop to Kite Beach area and walk to beach entrance
- Or: taxi directly from Metro station (AED 20–30, 10–15 minutes)
La Mer Jumeirah — Moderate Access
La Mer in Jumeirah 1 is accessible from Downtown via taxi in 15–20 minutes (AED 25–35), or by combining the Red Line to Business Bay with a 20-minute taxi. The development has its own free parking, making driving convenient — but for residents who prefer not to drive, a direct taxi is the most practical car-free option here too.
The Cycling Option: JBR and Marina
For residents living within 5km of JBR, cycling is genuinely one of the best arrival options. The dedicated cycling track along The Walk promenade and Marina waterfront creates a car-free and pleasantly scenic approach. Careem Bike stations are dotted throughout the Marina and JBR areas for those who don't own their own bicycle. The JBR cycling track connects directly to beach club parking areas where bikes can be locked securely.
In cooler months (October–April), a morning cycle to the beach is one of the most enjoyable ways to arrive — you get a mild workout, you feel virtuous, and you park for free directly outside the venue. In summer, restrict cycling to before 9am or after 6pm to avoid the worst heat.
Nol Card: The Key to Car-Free Dubai
All RTA public transport in Dubai — Metro, Tram, Water Bus, most buses — uses the Nol card payment system. If you're planning car-free beach days, load a Nol card (available at any Metro station for AED 25 including AED 19 credit) and keep it topped up. The card system automatically applies the cheapest applicable fare and handles multi-modal journeys. A full car-free beach day journey using Metro + Tram rarely exceeds AED 15–20 return from anywhere on the Red Line.
🚇 Quick Reference: Metro Access by Beach Area
- JBR / Dubai Marina: Very easy — Red Line + Tram. 12–20 min walk from Tram stops. Best car-free beach area.
- Palm Jumeirah: Moderate — Red Line + Monorail + short taxi. 55–75 min total. Worth it if you're drinking.
- Kite Beach: Requires a bus or short taxi from Red Line. 35–45 min total. Direct taxi recommended.
- La Mer Jumeirah: Best by direct taxi from home or Metro. 15–20 min taxi from Business Bay station.
- Downtown-adjacent venues: Walk from DIFC/Business Bay Metro. La Mer and Jumeirah Open Beach within taxi range.
Parking Costs vs Transport Costs: The Calculation
For residents weighing the car vs public transport decision, parking costs at Dubai beach clubs are a key factor. Many premium venues charge for parking or have limited free bays that fill early on weekends. A rough comparison for a typical premium venue visit on a Friday:
- Driving: AED 30–50 valet or parking fee + fuel + potential congestion and queue time
- Metro + Tram to JBR: AED 10–15 return + Careem/taxi for last mile if needed (AED 0–20)
- Direct taxi: AED 40–80 return depending on origin
The financial case for public transport is strongest for JBR/Marina venues — where the metro + tram combination is genuinely convenient and significantly cheaper than parking. For Palm venues, the public transport journey time means the decision comes down to time preference rather than cost alone.
