The Greek Taverna
Kyma runs one of Dubai's most credible Greek kitchens, and the menu feels genuinely developed rather than curated. The chef's team works a charcoal grill at the heart of the taverna — octopus, whole fish, souvlaki and lamb chops all take their turn over coals. Mezze is the other pillar: warm pita torn by hand, taramasalata whipped with cured cod roe, tyrokafteri fiery with spicy feta, melitzanosalata smokier than most, and dolmades rolled tight.
From the sea, expect a whole grilled sea bream with lemon and oregano, lobster spaghetti with rock-shrimp sauce, sea bass saganaki, and a rotating catch-of-the-day. From the grill: chicken souvlaki, lamb kleftiko slow-cooked in parchment with orange and rosemary, a flaming slab of pork gyros carved table-side, and on occasion a charcoal-grilled ribeye with oregano and olive oil. Moussaka remains the comfort-food anchor.
The drinks list is Kyma's quiet flex. The Greek wine selection is one of the largest in the UAE — Santorini Assyrtiko by the glass, Nemea Agiorgitiko, Peloponnese Moschofilero. Cocktails use mastic liqueur, ouzo-rinsed glasses, olive-leaf infusions. Greek coffee finishes the meal, alongside loukoumades drenched in honey and cinnamon.
